Dear Birth Parents,
Our names are Diana and Timothy Drath. We met in the summer of 2002 when be both delivered pizza in Fairbanks, Alaska. He was the shy guy, who I just had to know more about. After bombarding him with tons of question, he limited me to one question a day. That grew into our first date and we eloped in December 2003.
Tim: I was born and raised in Wisconsin. I have two brothers and a sister. I grew up in the country and did a lot of outdoor activities, including fishing and hunting. I attended a small town school, and after graduation I joined the army and was stationed in Alaska. My hobbies include: hunting, fishing, four-wheeling, snowmobiling, and sports. I really enjoy being outdoors and spending time with close friends and family.
Diana: I was born in Illinois. My parents moved me to Alaska with my three sisters when I was six. I graduated from North Pole High School. After my freshman year in college I met Tim, and once we were married I decided to become a nurse. I graduated with my nursing degree in 2008 and had our son, Xavier, three days after my last nursing final. In my free time I enjoy reading, sewing, hiking, snowboarding, four-wheeling and snowmobiling. I am family centered and always put my family before myself.
Xavier has a wonderful personality and loves being outside. He amazes us everyday by how much he grows and learns. He loves playing with other children and is fascinated by babies. He is looking forward to being a big brother. We love him more than words can describe, and are so thankful to be blessed with him.
We had planned to give him brothers and sisters, but unfortunately there were complications after his delivery and Diana can no longer carry children. This was a devastating blow to our dreams in life.
Tim is a heavy equipment operator for Ft. Knox Gold Mine, and Diana is a school nurse. Both of our jobs allow us a lot of time to spend as a family. We have taken two vacations since Xavier was born. We went to Hawaii with Diana’s family in March, and in June we visited Tim’s family in Wisconsin. Diana’s family lives close to us and we see them every weekend. We get to see Tim’s family every one to two years, but we do a lot of communication through phone and Facebook, in between visits.
We have very supportive friends and family and they know how important the decision to adopt is to us. They all stood by us as we worked through the grief of not being able to have more biological children. Our close friends have small children and we spend many weekends getting together for family style game nights and play dates. Their children and Xavier enjoy spending time in our new backyard with our two dogs, Prissy and Trip.
Thank you for taking the time to read our letter. We understand that making an adoption plan for your child is one of the most difficult decisions you will ever have to make, and we promise to love your child will all out hearts .We wish you the best of luck in your decision. Thank You!
Sincerely,
Diana and Timothy Drath
