Our Family Photos
Dear Birth Mother,
Hello,
Thank You for taking the time to learn about us. We are Kate and Shane and we are very excited to start our family through adoption. We admire your courage and selflessness as you begin to make this decision and are honored that you have chosen to learn more about us. Shane and I understand that simple photos and words can only go so far and look forward to the opportunity to meet and learn more about you, and answer any questions you may have, and hopefully give you a comfortable sense of who we are as a couple.
The Story of Us
We have been happily married for almost 4 years. We met at work about 10 years ago and have been friends since meeting. It wasn't until Kate left for college that we realized there was something more than friendship there. Because we have known each other for such a long time we not only deeply love each other but are best friends. We consider ourselves so blessed to have found each other. For both of us, our dream has always been to have children and raise a family. It seems that we are happiest when we are with family and it's that feeling of joy and togetherness that we want to share with a child.
We were both born and raised, and now live and work in rural Wisconsin. We love the quiet country setting the area provides. Since we both love the outdoors, Wisconsin is the perfect place to be year round; there is always a new adventure and something fun to enjoy. We enjoy hiking especially in the fall when the leaves are changing colors. We also like to fish, take vacations or do home improvement projects. Last year we added a deck to our house and now enjoy cookouts with family and friends all summer long.
A little bit about Shane...From Kate's perspective
Shane is a caring, thoughtful, genuine and extremely reliable man. Shane is Manager and part owner of our family business, a local grain elevator. He loves his job and the people he works with. He works very hard and has built great relationships with co-workers and customers alike.
Shane's hobbies include working on home improvement projects (his current labor of love is finishing our basement), and playing outside with our Yellow Lab Maddie. In almost any weather you will most likely find Shane by the grill at dinner time trying new recipes and perfecting his techniques.
But what I love most about Shane is that he is always thinking of others and will offer a hand to anyone in need. Whether it is being there for a friend when they need someone to talk to, helping move furniture or lending out a screw driver; you name it Shane is there. Shane is a loving, supportive and unfailingly kind husband. Everyday he demonstrates through his actions that nothing is more important to him than his family. He is a true family guy; at family parties you will always find Shane running around with our younger cousins or our friends' kids. Not only is he a natural father, he will happily put anything aside to help those closest to him.
A little about Kate...From Shane's perspective
Kate is the most caring, kind and devoted person you will ever meet. Putting others first is something that comes naturally to her, a trait she undoubtedly gets from her incredibly loving and supportive family. But she always knows when to put her foot down when it is needed as well.
Kate is an enthusiastic Crop Insurance Agent. She attended college and graduated-with high honors- with her bachelor's degree in Social work. But after working for years in agriculture with her family, Kate decided that working with local farmers was what she wanted to do. Her favorite part of the year is harvest time when she and some of her co-workers make "Meals on Wheels" for their customers. She maybe seen on the deck cooking 600 brats at 8 a.m. so she can go to the local grain elevators or even directly to the fields to provide lunches for her hardworking customers out harvesting their crops.
Kate's hobbies include running on country roads, taking Maddie for long walks, and baking cookies, especially her famous oatmeal chocolate chip. She also has a great love of literature and music and is an accomplished pianist. She cannot wait to share these passions with our child.
Our Home
We live in a family oriented quiet neighborhood. There are many families with small children living on our street and throughout our neighborhood. We have a three bedroom house that we built 2 years ago with a big backyard and a beautiful deck. Our community has a small town feel with park district activities, a great school system and weekly farmers market.
Our Family
We consider ourselves very lucky to have wonderful, supportive families that live nearby. Our parents both live about thirty minutes from our home and our siblings also live in the area. We are lucky to consider our parents to be not only great parents but also very good friends. They are all excited to welcome a new grandchild to the family! Their support throughout our lives has shown us an example of what a loving family should be.
We are excited and, more than anything, ready to start our family through adoption. We will provide our child with the support they need to explore their interests and talents. Education is very important to us. As such, our children will attend good schools and have the opportunity to go to college. Most importantly we will love and nurture them as they grow into confident, loving adults. Should you choose us as adoptive parents we will honor your special place in our family and respect the level of openness that you are comfortable with. The child will always know their birth story and the caring, courageous people you are.
Thank you for taking the time to get to know us a little better. We appreciate your willingness to learn about us, and hope we are able to provide you with enough information to assist in your adoption planning. We believe that adoption is a great "gift of love" and your decision is one of great courage and we respect you deeply.
With Gratitude,
Kate & Shane
